Our idyllic Black Sea journey began with a warm welcome in lively Trabzon, where azure waters lapped at sandy shores and calls to prayer echoed through cobbled alleys. We spent our first days unwinding in the coastal city's lively markets before venturing inland. On day two, we drove winding roads past tea plantations to reach the crystalline waters of Uzungöl Lake, surrounded by rolling emerald hills. Children splashed and played as we explored the lake's tree-lined shores.
The next morning revealed Hallaç Dağı's snow-capped peaks looming over Rize's tangled forests. We hiked winding trails through towering ferns and rhododendrons until reaching Hıdırnebi Plateau's carpet of wildflowers. That afternoon, as rainclouds gathered, we squeezed through Çal Cave's narrow passages etched with geological wonders. Beyond, the mist-shrouded peaks of Kaçkar Dağları faded in and out of view over Sera Lake's still waters.
On the fourth day, we took a cable car up the steep slopes of Boztepe, gazing over Trabzon's minarets and fishing boats below. That evening, children fed donkeys and goat kids at the zoo, weary but happy. We then traveled to Sürmene, wandering paths that wound past walnut and chestnut trees. The following night found us ensconced in rustic bungalows overlooking Rize's tea-scented valleys.
Our journey concluded with stops in historic Ordu, where we rode cable cars and hiked beneath Gisali Waterfall's veils of spray. Farewells were bittersweet as we boarded our flight, memories of azure waters, mist-shrouded peaks, and warm local faces sustaining us until we return to Turkey's enchanting Black Sea realm.
